Lucerne is located in central Switzerland on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The oldest wooden bridge in Europe known as the Chapel Bridge and the octagonal Wasserturm Tower built in 1300 are the landmarks of the city situated on both sides of the river Reuss. Lucerne boasts historic old town with a well-preserved merchant houses with colorful, richly decorated facades. The seventeenth-century Jesuit church also attracts attention. Its baroque towers are reflected in the surface of the water.
