Pirogovo open-air museum located near Kiev is not only a popular tourist attraction, but also a real treat for folklorists and enthusiasts of folk culture. In the museum there are reconstructed villages representing various regions of Ukraine, including Polesye, the Carpathians and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The oldest huts come from the 16th century, besides traditional homesteads there are also wooden churches and mills. The ethnographic museum was put into use in 1976. The museum occupying an area of 150 hectares organizes numerous presentations, workshops and festivities.
