Pena Palace in Sintra (Portugal)
Pena Palace in Sintra is located on the top of a hill in the suburbs of Lisbon. The palace was built in the 19th century and was inspired by the Renaissance, Gothic, and Arabic architecture. Its eclectic form is emphasized by the choice of façades colors, different for each part of the palace. It was built as the seat of King Ferdinand II and today it is a national monument. There is a museum in the edifice, it is also occasionally used as the residence of the President of the Republic of Portugal. Due to its unique character, the Pena palace is one of the seven wonders of Portugal. It has also been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
