Rhododendron – also known as azalea – is a plant of the heath family with beautiful, tiny flowers. Rhododendrons bloom profusely and their bright petals create wonderful colorful carpets. East-Carpathian rhododendron (Rhododendron kotschyi) that blooms in early summer is a real decoration of mountain pastures and meadows. Pink fields of rhododendrons can be seen in the Carpathian region and one of the mountain ranges that is decorated by these flowers is the Chornohora in Ukraine. In order to fully enjoy blooming rhododendrons it is best to hike in the mountains in June.
