Piryn National Park is located in the south-western part of Bulgaria. The highest peak in this area is Mount Vihren, rising 2,914 meters above sea level, once considered the seat of the Slav god Perun. The post-glacial landscape of the park is very varied. It consists of pine and fir forests, waterfalls and crystal clear mountain lakes. The surroundings of the Pirin massif are inhabited by roe deer, wolves and brown bears. There is also a beautiful edelweiss in the park.
