Pont Neuf in Paris (France)

Pont Neuf is the oldest bridge in the French capital. Its construction was completed at the beginning of the 17th century during the reign of Henry IV. There were no residential houses built on the bridge, but sidewalks for pedestrians were provided. The structure of the Pont Neuf has never been changed and for four hundred years it has been supported on twelve stone spans. The bridge is 278 meters long and 30 meters wide. For centuries the Pont Neuf was a bustling bridge, it was full of artists, circus performers and merchants.
