Alexandria is the largest port and the second largest city of Egypt (after Cairo), in the past it was the capital of Egypt. Alexandria was built of the coast of the Mediterranean Sea by Alexander the Great in the 4th century B.C. In the ancient times it was above all the commercial port. Today Alexandria is one of the most important North Africa transshipment, fishing and tourist ports – large container ships, cutters and small fishing boats, as well as tourist ships are moored there.
