Port of Hamburg (Germany)
Hamburg is a large German city located in the north of the country. It is situated near the mouth of the Elbe River. For centuries Hamburg has been an important commercial and transshipment center. It has the second largest European seaport, serving amongst others container ships. Tourists should visit the old harbor district called Speicherstadt with the Neo-Gothic complex of brick warehouses that were built on the bank of the canal. There are a hundred consulates and more bridges than in Venice. The skyline of the city center is adorned by the towers of five main Hamburg churches: St. Catherine’s, St. Peter’s, St. Michael’s, St. James’s and St. Nicholas’s.
