Dogs between the first and twelfth week of life are called puppies. Puppies are born deaf and blind. The lack of sight and hearing senses is compensated by a faster development of the sense of smell. The remaining senses are developed only after three weeks. The smallest puppies use their time for two activities: eating and sleeping, this latter activity takes up to 80% of their day.
