Crocus, or saffron, is a plant with beautiful six-petal flowers. Their spring, ornamental variety grows among grass, on mountain meadows, in gardens and flowerbeds. The first flowers appear as early as at the turn of February and March, they are not bothered with frost and a thin layer of snow. Intense purple crocuses with golden stamens and a pistil look best in large clusters, when the flowers create colorful carpets. Despite the fact that the flowering period is relatively short, for crocuses are the first announcement of spring for garden owners.
