Hammock is a sling suspended between two poles, hooks or trees. It was most probably brought to Europe by Christopher Columbus. Hammocks used to be popular among sailors. In the course of time hammocks have been associated mostly with holiday relaxation and a nap outdoors. A light construction suspended in the shade of green palms, with the background of the Atlantic Ocean and the view of mountainous bay of the Philippine island of Palawan set the scene of a royal siesta indeed.
