Roman Forum (Italy)
The Roman Forum is the most important urban square of ancient Rome. The Forum that formed the center of political and religious life was surrounded by six hills. It was both a place of celebration of holidays and official celebrations, as well as everyday social gatherings. The oldest buildings of the square at the foot of the Capitoline and Palatine Hills were probably erected around the 6th century BC. The remains of the temple of Castor and Pollux and the Arch of Septimius Severus have survived to the present day.
