Panorama of Rome with St. Peter’s Basilica (Italy)
St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome is traditionally considered to be the edifice erected at the very spot of crucifixion and the tomb of its patron – the remains of the first head of the Church are buried under the present-day altar. There are also the tombs of other popes in this magnificent temple. The basilica is an important place mostly for the Catholics, however, due to historic architecture it is admired by people from all corners of the world, regardless the denomination. The temple is perfectly visible not only for the St. Peter’s Square but also from the western bank of the river Tiber.
