Nuremberg is a large German city located on the Pegnitz River in Bavaria. Despite the large destruction of the city during World War II, tourists can still admire several Gothic temples, the Renaissance city hall and historic half-timbered houses. What is more, the castle towers over the historic part of the city. In the 20th century, events of great historical importance took place in Nuremberg. In 1935 the Nuremberg Laws limiting the rights of Jews were passed in the city, and ten years later, court trials against German Nazi war criminals began.
