Rothenburg ob der Tauber is a charming town located in the southern part of Germany. The beginnings of the settlement on the Tauber River date back to the 10th century. To this day, the town is regarded as a medieval pearl of Bavaria. Rothenburg boasts a large number of historic churches and tenement houses with colorful facades, a Renaissance town hall and remnants of former fortifications. Neat, narrow streets are decorated with perfectly-preserved town gates, half-timbered buildings and numerous fountains that once served as additional security for the town in the event of a fire.
