District of Rotterdam on the New Meuse River (Netherlands)
Rotterdam is a large Dutch city located in the western part of the country. The Nieuwe Maas River, i.e. the New Meuse, flows through Rotterdam – it is an arm of the Rhine Delta. The river traverses densely populated areas of the city and there are both modern office and apartment buildings as well as red terraced houses its banks. The Erasmus suspension bridge (Dutch: Erasmusburg) is the most important crossing by the New Meuse River – it overlooks the northern and southern districts of Rotterdam.
