Pumpkins are very healthy fruits that occur in many varieties. Their culinary use is very wide – you can use them for both dry dishes and desserts, such as muffins and cakes. According to legend, the first pumpkin cake was baked by European settlers in North America and consisted of a pumpkin filled with honey, milk and spices, and then baked. Until today, the United States is the largest consumer and producer of pumpkins in the world, whereas the American village of Morton, Illinois is considered the "pumpkin capital".
