Saguaro cacti in the Sonoran Desert (USA)
The saguaro cactus grows in the United States and Mexico. It is the largest cactus in the world and a symbol of the US state of Arizona. It has characteristic branches, white funnel-shaped flowers and the height of a single plant can be up to several meters. This species of cacti live about 150-170 years. Saguaro can endure without water for a very long time – sometimes only a few days of rain must be enough to collect supply of water for the entire year. Fine specimens of this species of cacti can be admired in the Sonoran Desert, stretching between southern Arizona and the northern part of Mexico.
