The San Juan Range is a fragment of the Rocky Mountains located in the southwestern part of the American state of Colorado. The area was famous for mines in which gold and silver were mined until the beginning of the 20th century. Currently, there are nature reserves, a ski center and starting points for lovers of mountain climbing and extreme off-road vehicle rides. The highest peak of the San Juan Range is 4,361-meter Uncompahgre Peak. Mount Sneffels is also very popular as it is the most photographed and filmed peak of the whole range.
