Serpa is a small town in Portugal located in the region of Alentejo, near the border with Spain. Its urban development is characterized by a snow-white color of the facades. Serpa has several important historic monuments, including the 15th-century church of Convento de Santo António and an Arabic castle from the 13th century. There is also a number of cultural institutions, such as the museum of clocks. The town has preserved its medieval atmosphere thanks to whitewashed walls of buildings and narrow streets. It is surrounded by olive groves and vast pastures. Serpa is famous for making traditional sheep cheese.
