Philadelphia was the first capital of the United States. It was granted town privileges as early as in 1701. Benjamin Franklin was one of the notable citizens and the city owes its development at early years of existence to him. Philadelphia’s architecture dates back to colonial times and for that reason the present-day skyscrapers are often contrasted by the houses that were built in the Georgian style. In the city there are over forty buildings that are over 100 meters high.
