Oland has a unique, somewhat fairytale atmosphere. Scenic landscapes are diversified with wooden windmills, lighthouses and flocks of grazing cows and sheep. There are numerous tourist attractions in the harbor town of Borgholm, located in Kalmar region – the Himmelsberga Museum with an ethnographic park is one of them – it is where folk music festivals and folklore meetings are organized. When walking around Borgholm visitors will also see small, charming buildings – houses, shops, cafes – with Scandinavian red façades and white shutters. Attractive signboards and decorations tempt tourists who can buy small souvenirs there.
