Shanghai is the largest and most populous city in China and the economic capital of the country. It is also one of the largest ports in the world. The business district of Pudong, which is also called Shanghai Manhattan, is considered to be the financial and transportation center of this vast metropolis. Nevertheless, Pudong is much younger than its North American counterpart. Even in the 1990s there were meadows at the site of the modern district, however, today visitors will find here modern skyscrapers, designer boutiques, bustling nightlife and luxury hotels, as well as a marina for yachts. The recent times when nature reigned in New Shanghai are recalled by parks and squares with evenly trimmed grass.
