Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple is situated in the Asian city-state of Singapore. It is located in the district called Little India, built and inhabited by Indian immigrants to Singapore since the beginning of the 20th century. Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple is the oldest Hindu place of worship in Singapore. It was dedicated to the mighty goddess Kali, which destroys all evil and defends the faithful. The choice of the patron probably was not accidental. A small community of Indians who decided to emigrate needed a sense of security, which a strong protector was to provide.
