Visby is a medieval, Hanseatic town located on the island of Gotland. The town is known for its historic stone buildings, ruins of churches and well-preserved eleven-meter defensive walls. The walls surround older urban buildings, reaching the length of three and a half kilometers. During the holidays the town opens its doors to tourists and enthusiasts of history as there are concerts, shows and fairs referring to the medieval Visby traditions. The mild climate is conducive to walking and cycling.
