Lukhovitsy (Russian: Лухови́цы) is a Russian town located in Moscow Oblast. The settlement had already been known in the 16th century but it received town status in 1957. Its dynamic development began in the mid-nineteenth century, due to the Moscow-Ryazan Railway. After World War II Lukhovitsy became an industrial town. Its tourist attractions refer to the military aviation traditions. The town is famous for growing cucumbers and there is even a monument in the shape of this vegetable. There is also the monument depicting MiG-23 fighter aircraft flying upward.
