The oldest amber ornaments and amulets come from the Paleolithic, it means that they belong to the first objects of this kind made by mankind. The importance of amber has not decreased over the centuries. In ancient times Baltic amber was transported through Europe in order to reach the Roman Empire, where it was a highly valued gem. Today, amber is used in jewelry and ornaments production. Due to its healing properties it is also used in the production of cosmetics and drugs.
