Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
Sugarloaf Mountain, also called an outlier, is a domed egg-shaped mountain, which owes its shape to erosion and some chemical processes that result from it. Such mountains occur mostly in areas with tropical or subtropical climate. Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Portuguese: Pão de Açúcar). is one of the most popular mountains of that type. The mountain is located on a peninsula that sticks out into the Atlantic Ocean and it reaches the height of 396 meters. The Brazilian outlier can be reached by two cable cars, tourists may admire breathtaking views while riding to the top. The Sugarloaf Mountain is also popular among climbers. There are several other impressive peaks of that type nearby, among them the Corcovado Mountain, which is known worldwide for the statue of Christ the Redeemer atop its peak.
