The small port town of Perast is located on the coast of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Its name comes from the tribe of Pirust. Bright buildings contrast with the green slopes of Mount Kasona, at the foot of which the town is located. There are several temples in the town, among which St. Nicholas church stands out. It was built in 1616 and has a distinctive bell tower, which definitely dominates other buildings. The town’s life is concentrated in the coastal area. Near Perast there are two small islands –of St. George and Our Lady of the Rock.
