Traditional Provencal street
Provence is a historical and geographical region located in south-eastern France on the Mediterranean Sea. Its name comes from the Latin phrase "Provincia Nostra," i.e. "Our Province", as that land was called by the ancient Romans. Today Provence is known for its picturesque landscapes, which were willingly pictured by the 19th and 20th-century. The province is also famous for its extensive lavender fields and fine cuisine. The local towns are charming places where history is intertwined with modernity. It all makes Provence the most popular tourist region of France.
