Trajan’s Forum (Italy)

Trajan’s Forum in Rome is located between the hills of Quirinal and the Capitoline. The square was cobbled with marble blocks. Tourists may still admire the remains of the columns of the Basilica Ulpia built in 113 by Apollodorus of Damascus and Trajan's Column, built after the emperor's victory in the Dacian Wars. At the end of the fourth century Trajan's statue topping the column top was replaced by a statue of St. Peter. Near the column there are the Baroque churches of the Most Holy Name of Mary and Our Lady of Loreto with their characteristic domes.
