The Caribbean Islands were discovered in 1492 by Christopher Columbus. He was the one who named this region West Indies, believing that he arrived to a totally different place. The Caribbean consists of the two chains of islands: Greater and Lesser Antilles. They cover the total area of 255.000 km2 and the biggest island of the Caribbean is Cuba.
