Tübingen is a beautiful university town in southern Germany. Due to the centuries-long academic tradition the residents of the town say that Tübingen has no university but is a university. As befits a forum for exchanging thoughts, the town can boast multicultural atmosphere, openness of citizens and a perfect balance between tradition and the madness of youth. Every year tenement houses towering over the Neckar River witnesses gondola competitions during which boats must pass under the narrow span of the bridge. Crew members who fail are forced to drink half a liter of whale oil.
