The reservoir has an area of approx. 22 km² and the largest capacity in Poland (472 million m³). The lake has a well-developed shoreline (approx. 166 km with an average water level with a mirror at 420 m above sea level), a narrowing of the valley below the mouth of Solinka to the San River, near the village of Solina, was chosen as the place of the dam erection. While filling the reservoir, the villages of Solina, Teleśnica Sanna, Horodek, Sokole, Chrewt and a large part of Wołkowyja were flooded.
