Vasco da Gama Bridge (Portugal)

Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon is the longest bridge on the Tag river - it is 17,2 km long. It is located on the suburbs of the capital of Portugal. The bridge was built by the Portuguese-French-British consortium in order to reduce traffic on the only bridge in the city centre, which was joining Lisbon with towns on the other side of the river. The construction was named after the famous sailor 500 years after he discovered the sea route from Europe to India.
