Swedish town of Visby is called the "Gate of Gotland." It lies on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea and still maintains its Hanseatic tradition, including the organization of the festival celebrated every year, the so-called Medieval Week. Visby has preserved the 3.5-kilometer defensive wall with fifty towers, historic churches and the cathedral as well as medieval stone buildings. Today the capital of the island of Gotland is also a tourist resort with sandy beaches, parks and charming streets of the old town.
