Warsaw Mermaid
The Mermaid is the symbol of Warsaw and it is depicted in the coat of arms of the Polish capital. The monument created by the sculptor Konstanty Hegel was placed on the Old Market in 1855. After 1928 its location was changed many times, but in 2000 it returned to the original location. At present visitors may admire the copy of the monument on the Old Town Market, whereas the original monument is in the Historical Museum of Warsaw.
