West Mitten is one of sandstone buttes in Monument Valley. The valley is located on the southern border of Utah with northern Arizona and is part of the Colorado Plateau. The Navajo name for the Monument Valley is Tsé Bii' Ndzisgaii, means Valley of the Rocks. Monument Valley has been featured in many movies, such as Westerns by John Ford.
