The Matterhorn with its characteristic, similar to a pyramid shape, is one of the most famous peaks of the Western Alps. It lies at the border of Switzerland and Italy, reaching the height of 4478 meters above sea level. The Italian name of the Matterhorn is Monte Cervino, i.e. Deer Mountain. The first expedition that managed to reach the peak took place in 1865. Even today it is not easy to climb that mountain, however, there are still many daredevils. The Matterhorn is a symbol of the Alps and Switzerland, the peak is most frequently photographed from the side of Lake Riffelsee. The unique shape of the Matterhorn inspired the creators of the cult chocolate brand Toblerone.
