White House in Washington, the official seat of the presidents of the United States on the Potomac River, is one of the most recognized buildings in the world. The construction of the magnificent mansion designed by James Hoban began in 1792. John Adams was the first president who lived and worked in the Presidential Palace. The oldest building of the complex is the Executive Residence serving the representative purposes and housing private rooms of the president and his family. In the West Wing there is the Oval Office, whereas in the East – the First Lady's office.
