Nové Město nad Metují is a small town in the north of Czech Republic. It was founded in the 16th century on a rock that is surrounded from three sides by the river Metuje. The settlement was built at the foot of the elevation, where the beautiful Renaissance castle is located. The building was rebuilt several times. During the renovation work that was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century by the Czech architect Dusan Jurkowicz a picturesque wooden bridge was built, which connects the castle courtyard with magnificent French-style gardens. It is one of a few wooden bridges in the world that is completely covered, it is also a popular tourist attraction of the town.
