Yacht entering the marina in Poros (Greece)
Poros is a Greek island with a long and interesting history dating back to the Bronze Age. It was frequently attacked by pirates and invaders from Turkey. In the 1820s the inhabitants of Poros participated in the struggles for independence, which is still remembered due to the building of the Hellenic Naval Academy built at that time. Today, Poros is known as a seaside resort, which - despite being close to Athens crowded with tourists – has preserved its cozy atmosphere of a small Greek town. Cascades of white and cream houses on the slopes of the hill are covered with traditional orange roof tiles, perfectly visible from the yachts that call to the Port of the island.
