Miniature terriers, which are commonly called yorkies, are lovely domestic dogs. In the 19th century they were used mostly to exterminate rodents, which made the lives of city dwellers a misery. Today they are treated as decorative, couch animals. They do not have fur, which is typical for other breeds, but they have hair that requires care and trimming. Pet shops offer a wide range of gadgets for yorkies, especially hair decorations, pet carriers, clothes and care cosmetics. Due to their small size, lovely snouts and popularity among famous actresses and singers, these dogs have become one of the symbols of high status and prestige of an owner. Nevertheless, it is important to remember that a dog should not be treated as a fashionable accessory but as a living creature that deserves proper care.
