The Grande Canal, which is also called Canalazzo, is undoubtedly the largest and the most important water route of Venice. The shape of the Grand Canal reminds the letter S that is upside down. The canal cuts Venice into two parts, which are connected by three bridges: Ponte del'Accademia, Ponte di Rialto and Ponte degli Scalzi. There are 45 smaller canals coming from the Canalazzo, which are called “rio”. The Grande Canal is about 4 km long, 30-70 m wide and is 5 m deep. On both sides of the canal, there are marble palaces built in the Renaissance, Baroque and Venetian Gothic styles. The Grand Canal in Venice is a great tourist attraction, which attracts plenty of tourists.
