Uspenski Cathedral is located in the capital of Finland. It was built in 1868 in accordance with the design by Alexey Gornostayev. The temple that has a brick-red facade and distinctive domes is the largest Orthodox cathedral in Western Europe. Thirteen golden domes are meant to symbolize Jesus Christ and the twelve apostles. There is a beautiful iconostasis inside the cathedral. The architectural style of the building refers to the rich history of Finland, which was under the Russian dominion for over a century. The Orthodox cathedral is located at Kanavakatu street, in the district of Katajanokka.
