Nexø is a small fishing town located on the Danish island of Bornholm. The port was built on a sandstone rock. This building material that has been extracted from the quarry north of the town since the 18th century – was also used by the inhabitants of Nexø for the construction of houses and public buildings. Although the stormy history of the town includes fires, storms, epidemics, invasions and bombings, Nexø still stands out in terms of architecture, preserving the atmosphere of a charming seaside village. Colorful elevations of terraced houses revitalize clean and narrow streets.
