The museum in Nexø is located near the port and market, in a historic sandstone building that comes from a nearby quarry. The characteristic yellow building was erected in 1796 and previously had served the function of a town hall. In the museum visitors may admire an exhibition of the turbulent history of the town, including events related to World War II and the bombing of Nexø. The museum's collections feature also boat models and vintage boat equipment. Nexø is also a home to Railway Museum and Butterfly Park.
