Hakaniemi is a very popular part of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. The district is located in the city center, near the historic old town. It was formerly the area inhabited mostly by workers and their families, but over time the price of housing in the area started to grow and now Hakaniemi is one of the most expensive places in Helsinki. Hakaniemi is the place where visitors can see a large, busy square, which used to serve the function of a street market, moreover, a shopping center known all over Finland, numerous shops with oriental products, offering a wide selection of imported Asian goods, as well as offices of several commercial companies.
