Karlovy Vary is a large spa in the western part of the Czech Republic. The town is located on the confluence of as many as four rivers. Its location at the foot of mountain peaks attracts tourists and patients not only with curative springs, but the characteristic terraced buildings. The old town of Karlovy Vary is situated on a canal, through which the river Teplá flows. Due to lack of space in a narrow valley, new rows of tenement houses were built on the slopes. It creates an impression that the town has several levels. The Old Town delights with pastel houses restored in the Art Nouveau style.
