Eltz Castle is the mighty residence of the von Eltz family, located on the Elzbach river near the town of Eifel. The castle, which was erected in the 12th century, served the function of a fortress. It was rebuilt a few times. Today it bears the late-gothic features and due to its monumentalism and picturesque location it is one of the biggest attractions of tourist Rhineland.
